How to sell a UFC card
To sell a UFC card on CardResell: identify the card, check what the same card has sold for, photograph it, set up shipping and payouts, set a price, ship it tracked, and get paid after delivery. Listing is free and a commission is taken only when a card sells. The scanner and every price reference are informational and can be wrong, so check each one before you rely on it.
Step 1: Identify the card
Note the fighter, the set and year, the parallel or variant, the serial number if the card is numbered, and the grade and grader if it is in a slab. The free scanner can read a photo for you: it reads the fighter, set, parallel, serial number and slab label. It is an AI-assisted read and can be wrong, so check each field against the card. On the sell form the scanner fills in the card details and you confirm every field before you list.
Step 2: Check recorded sold prices, not asking prices
Asking prices show what sellers hope for, and recorded sold prices show what cards sold for. On CardResell a value for a specific card is shown only when at least 3 recorded sales of the same card back it, with the sample size and dates, and raw, PSA 9 and PSA 10 are kept apart. With fewer, the page says it is still building. Use the price check for one card or a fighter price guide for a fighter. These figures come from recorded sales that can be incomplete or out of date, and they are not an appraisal.
Step 3: Photograph the card
Take clear photos of the front and the back, close-ups of the corners and edges, the serial number if the card has one, and the slab label if it is graded. Buyers judge a card from your photos, and a card that does not match its listing can end up in a case. To list several cards, the sell form can read one photo of cards laid out on a table and queue them up, and you review every card before it goes live. You can also list several cards together as one bundle for one price.
Step 4: Set up shipping and payouts
Pick a package type on the listing and add your ship-from address in Settings. Shipping is calculated for the buyer at checkout and the buyer pays it. Payouts run through Stripe: you complete Stripe's onboarding, which asks for identity and bank details on Stripe's own page, before buyers can check out your cards. Sellers can be in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or Germany. Outside the US you set one flat shipping price in Settings and buy tracked postage yourself. Shipping and countries has the rules for each country.
Step 5: Set your price
You set the item price. The commission comes out of it only when the card sells: 5% under $500, 4% from $500 up to $2,000 and 3% from $2,000 up, with a $0.50 minimum, and no commission on your first completed sale. Buyers see an all-in price that includes the card-processing fee, so the price a buyer sees is a little higher than the price you set, and the sell form shows your exact amounts as you price. Buyers can also send offers, and you can accept, counter or decline them, or set an auto-decline floor on a listing so offers below it are turned away. See fees compared with eBay for a worked comparison.
Step 6: Ship it tracked
Every order ships with carrier tracking. When a card sells, a US seller opens the order and generates a prepaid tracked label, bought with the shipping the buyer already paid, so shipping costs the seller nothing extra, then prints it and drops the package off. Outside the US you buy tracked postage yourself and enter the tracking number on the order. The carrier, not the seller, confirms delivery.
Step 7: Get paid after delivery
The buyer pays first and the payment is held by our payment processor until the carrier confirms delivery and the buyer's inspection window ends, or until the buyer confirms receipt. If a case is open on an order, that order's payout waits until it closes. Your payout then moves to your Stripe account. When it reaches your bank depends on Stripe's schedule, and sellers outside the US are on a longer international payout schedule that the Help page describes. If a buyer reports that a card never arrived, arrived damaged or was not as described, the seller has 72 hours to respond and can contest with photos, and CardResell decides under the published rules (Terms, Section 10).
Common mistakes to avoid
- Mislabeling a parallel or a set: check the scanner's read against the card before you list.
- Leaving out a photo of the serial number on a numbered card.
- Pricing from asking prices instead of recorded sold prices.
- Shipping without tracking: delivery is confirmed by the carrier, and without it the payout cannot be released.
Common questions
- How much does it cost to sell a UFC card on CardResell?
- Listing is free. When a card sells, the seller's commission is 5% of the item price under $500, 4% from $500 up to $2,000 and 3% from $2,000 up, with a $0.50 minimum. A seller's first completed sale has no commission. The buyer pays shipping and a card-processing fee.
- Do I have to ship with tracking?
- Yes. Every order ships with carrier tracking, because the carrier confirms delivery before the payment is released. US sellers ship on a prepaid tracked label from CardResell, and sellers outside the US buy their own tracked postage.
- What if a buyer says the card is not as described?
- The buyer reports it on the order. The seller has 72 hours to respond and can contest with photos, and CardResell decides the case under the published rules (Terms, Section 10). If a case is decided in the buyer's favor the buyer is refunded, but some refunds have dollar and frequency limits, and orders that cross a border are decided on photos.
- Can I sell several cards at once?
- Yes. Photograph several cards laid out on a table and the sell form queues them up for you to review, or list several cards together as one bundle for one price. A bundle checks out as one order and ships as one package.
- Do I owe tax on what I sell?
- Money from selling cards is generally taxable income, whether or not you receive a tax form. CardResell is not a tax advisor and this is not tax advice. Your Sales page has a Tax and earnings summary with a CSV download you can give to an accountant.
